After posting the Whitehead Retreat photos, and seeing various photos of my friend Anna, I decided to take the rare opportunity to present two sets of photos instead of my usual one, since it is timely. Sadly, my baymate Ines-Anna Drinnenberg is leaving us for her postdoc this month, after years of sharing a bench and, later, a bay with me (as we rose in seniority we got our own benches). I am sad. We have created a nice and comfortable bay, with a pet fish, reading lamp, and lava lamp. Once we had a giant inflatable dolphin named Don Johnson, but he was brutally murdered several years ago (bled out of a long gash in his tail; found limp hanging from the ceiling the next day). We also wanted to have a bead curtain separating our bay from the rest of the lab, but this turned out to be impractical. Goodbye Anna! I am sorry I did not learn that much German.
