Astrophotos / Golden Gate Bridge - from Marin

It's strange to have days (nights?) off when you're working nights.  What do you do with your night off? Who do you hang out with when your wife and all your friends are sleeping?  That said, I did manage to have a late dinner with my sister (breakfast for her - I fell asleep during it), and then a nice breakfast (dinner?) with some friends.

More importantly, I talked Sueann and Joey into driving us to the Marin headlands for some night photography. The city lights are much brighter than the stars, so the plan here was to do two-exposure shots of frankly anything interesting (as usual, the Golden Gate Bridge was the most photogenic). Exposure 1 would be the foreground, and exposure 2 would be for the stars. The difference in exposure is about 3 stops.  In principle this would help me prep for some upcoming trips to the Sierra Nevadas, where exposure 1 would be done at dusk or sunset, and exposure 2 would be later at night when the sky is dark enough.

This worked ok, but the sky is not really dark enough (i.e., stars are not visible enough) to make it really interesting.
