I'm on and off again, as always. However, in celebration of the upcoming first birthday of Nadav, I post these photos I took of Igor and Liad when Liad was pregnant with Nadav. These folks have a great sense of humor, which I was trying to capture (along with the obvious goal of showing off the gravidity).
In searching around for inspiration before this shoot, I discovered that a surprisingly large proportion of maternity photos are taken semi-nude, or in sheer cloth, or with the father's muscular torso somehow worked in. I'm not really clear on why this is... is it meant to be sexually appealing? Or is the idea to celebrate life and the physical body? Or are other shooters just looking to build a portfolio and hiring models, as they apparently do in some wedding series?
Anyway, these are G-rated. Mostly.
In other news, I've decided to make some cosmetic changes to the appearance of the website, which will propagate slowly through the archival stuff. The idea here is to avoid lightboxes where possible. I found lightbox popups to be cool a few years ago when first putting together the site, but now I feel like it just gets in my way, with an unnecessarily long and involved animation. Also, it was apparently not clear to some visitors that there were more photos to be had. Hopefully this modified layout is more intuitive, while keeping the focus on individual images.
