Guiding philosophy

I don't think I have one.  Not really sure that I need one.  Confused by why so many others have one.  Disappointed by low information density in such statements.  But perhaps you will find it informative that I'm the kind of person who demonstrates his grouchiness by posing inside a recycling bin.

I'll shoot you or your event

Day job

I'm a fellow in pulmonary and critical care internal medicine at UCSF. I used to be medicine resident at UCSF. Before that, an MD/PhD student in the Harvard/MIT combined program, originally of the Class of 2009, and, for a long time, the Class of Various, then Class of 2014.  It may reassure you to learn that I was an HST student.  My PhD was done in the Bartel lab, where I worked on diverse aspects of mammalian miRNA biology but eventually focused on recognition of primary miRNA transcripts by the Drosha/DGCR8 complex.

If you have time

I'm a fan of these blogs:

You'd Prefer an Argonaute - David Garcia's stunningly popular and lovingly maintained blog on all things RNA.
Lens - The New York Times photojournalism blog.
Strobist - An utterly fantastic blog on using hotshoe flashes.  This link is actually to the lighting 101 page.
