Aphids - Double Lens Reverse Macro

Loading...

Not gonna lie - if a blog is supposed to be about what I'm thinking right this moment, then I would be speaking of food and various laboratory frustrations.  While my gel is running, I present these aphids that I found a few weeks ago.

I'm horrified by aphids.  Several mundane reasons include: (1) they tend to swarm in huge numbers, often on the underside of leaves where you don't see them until it's too late; (2) they exude some sticky material, which can absolutely cover an unfortunately parked car, and is presumably sweet, because (3) they are frequently enslaved by ants.  But the most irritating thing is that I found large numbers of them on the underside of my bok choy plants last summer.  Unfortunately I didn't realize it until the plants had been cooked, and I was dumping out the water I used to wash the leaves.

Everybody can use some extra protein, right?
