I cast around my bedroom for things to image with double lens reverse macro setup, and ended up imaging coins with strong low-angle light from the 430 EX II. Seemed quite appropriate for the Fourth of July.
In other news, these shots were taken by sticking a Honl snoot on the 430, not as a snoot, but as a reflector to direct light. This is not a particularly efficient way to light things when the working distance is only a few centimeters. Have ordered a TTL-compatible hotshoe cable, which will allow me to position the flash a little more efficiently (as I have in the past with the modified Sunpaks).
Next up, various macro shots of arthropod headgear.
